City of Martinsville recently issued the following announcement.
A major waterline break has occurred in the vicinity of 325 Ferguson Drive. This break will cause the water to be temporarily turned off to a number of customers in the northeast quadrant of the city. The area affected includes Shireman Estates, the Y, IU Morgan Health, and the Dialysis Center.
Crews are on the scene working to get the repairs made as soon as possible.
Once the repairs are completed, a Precautionary Boil Water Advisory will be in effect. Boil water advisories are standard procedure, per state regulation anytime a water line needs to be shut down.
It is recommended that those in the affected areas bring water to a complete boil for five (5) minutes before consuming the water. The City of Martinsville Water Utility will be sampling the water after the work is completed and for two consecutive days thereafter. The samples will be sent to a State Certified Lab for testing.
The City of Martinsville Water Utility will notify residents once the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted and when water may once again be consumed as normal.
