City of Martinsville recently issued the following announcement.
Street Closings to Begin April 4TH
Beginning on or after April 4, 2022, street closings will go into effect in different parts of Martinsville. These closing are part of street improvement projects that have been underway around the city.
South Street
In preparation for the widening of South Street, the street will be closed to through traffic from Home Avenue on the east to Ohio Street on the west. Traffic will be detoured using Home Avenue to Gray Street and Ohio Streets. Local traffic will be able to access from the north on the side streets in their neighborhood. This closure will be in effect until the widening of the street is completed later this year.
Grassyfork Lane
Grassy Fork Lane will be closed from Ferguson Drive on the south to Cleveland Drive on the north (over the dam) for the replacement of the spillway. The detour will be to around the lake using Ferguson Drive to Bailliere Drive around to Grassyfork Lane. This project should be completed by May 31, 2022.
Drivers will need to have patience as the work takes place in these areas. They are also asked to exercise extreme caution as workers and equipment will be moving about the construction areas. There may also be delays on the detours due to increased traffic volume.
