The Quiet Man at The Historic Artcraft Theatre

March 17 and 18 - Friday and Saturday at 2 p.m. and 7:30 p.m. both days. Scheduled to show on 35mm film.

What it is: A famous boxer retires to rural Ireland to purchase the old family farm. In the small town of Inisfree, he finds colorful local characters, including a love interest in fiery local woman Mary Kate Danaher.

Why we're showing it: In celebration of St. Patrick's day, the Artcraft presents director John Ford's love letter to his ancestral home of Ireland. Ford and John Wayne had many storied collaborations, including some of the best Westerns of all time. The Quiet Man, in contrast, is a comedic, romantic film set in Ireland, shot in gorgeous Technicolor. Nominated for seven Academy Awards, it won two - Best Director and Best Cinematography.
