City of Martinsville issued the following announcement on Sept. 16
Due to a water main break on Ferguson Drive, water service has been interrupted. All addresses in the following areas are affected: Jimmy Nash City Park, Valley Drive, Park Place, Shireman Estates, Church Street, Hammond Lane, Shady Lane, Kristi Lane, Shelburne Addition, Woodcrest Subdivision (those on city water), Grassyfork Building; residences and businesses on East Morgan Street north of Hospital Drive, the Armory, IU Health Morgan, and the Fresenius Kidney Care Center. Once the work has been completed and water service has been restored, a precautionary Boil Water Advisory will be in effect. Boil water advisories are standard procedure, per state regulation anytime a water line needs to be shut down.
It is recommended that those in the affected areas bring water to a complete boil for five (5) minutes before consuming the water. The City of Martinsville Water Utility will be sampling the water after the work is completed and for two consecutive days thereafter. The samples will be sent to a State Certified Lab for testing.
The City of Martinsville Water Utility will notify residents once the Boil Water Advisory has been lifted and when water may once again be consumed as normal.
