The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) softball teams competed in week nine of the 2021 season.

Delayne Sanchez (Osceloa, Ind.) Manchester University | Outfield | Sophomore - Sanchez has blossomed this spring for the Spartan softball program. She helped lead the Spartans to a 4-2 week - including a 3-1 mark in HCAC play - after going 10-19 (.526) at the plate with seven RBI. Sanchez hit her first career home run on Friday in MU's doubleheader sweep of Bluffton. Was a perfect 3-3 on stolen base attempts and also scored twice during the week.
Pitching Athlete of the Week:
Sydney Pitts (Rising Sun, Ind.) Franklin College | Pitcher | Sophomore – Pitts went 4-0 in the circle and did not allow an earned run for the Grizzlies over 22 innings of work. She scattered six hits and struck out four to earn her first career shutout with a 3-0 blanking of Hanover on Tuesday. Pitts recorded back-to-back shutouts with a three-hitter against Rose-Hulman on Thursday. She worked three innings of scoreless ball in relief to help the Grizzlies earn a comeback win over Hope on Friday.

Kayla Dillinger (Indianapolis, Ind.) Anderson University | Outfield | First-Year - Dillinger went 9-for-21 as the Ravens finished 3-3 last week. Dillinger put up a .429 batting average, stole three bases and plated four runs.
Kaitlyn Hawkins (Decatur, Ind.) Anderson University | Pitcher | Sophomore - Hawkins went 2-0 last week, closing the week with a 0.60 ERA and a 1.11 WHIP. In 11 and two-thirds innings pitched, she struck out nine batters, yielded four walks and allowed one run on nine hits. Against Adrian, she fanned six batters, issued one walk and allowed five hits in seven scoreless innings. Then against Hanover, she punched out three batters, yielded three walks and conceded one run on four hits and four and two-thirds innings.
Kalin Hubble (Anderson, Ind.) Defiance College | Outfield | Senior - Hubble led the Yellow Jackets at the plate with three hits, one double, and three RBI this past Saturday. During the games she broke two Defiance softball records in becoming the all-time career leader in RBI and doubles.
Shelby Crock (Pittsboro, Ind.) Franklin College | Short Stop | Sophomore – Crock batted .400 (8-for-20) with two home runs, 12 RBI and seven runs scored for the Grizzlies during a busy slate last week. She went 2-for-2 with a home run and four knocked in as part of a 15-1 win over Rose-Hulman on Thursday night. Crock went 5-for-7 with a home run, eight knocked in and three doubles as part of Saturday's sweep of Bluffton.
Alex Miller (Miamisburg, Ohio) Hanover College | Utility | First-Year - Miller led the Panthers to a 2-2 week as she provided a clutch homerun in the Panthers 3-2 victory over Franklin. The first-year finished the game 1-for-3 with all three RBI.
Lauren Beaman (Indianapolis, Ind.) Hanover College | Pitcher | First-Year - Beaman led the Panthers to a 1-0 victory over Anderson as the first year pitch a three hit gem. She surrendered just one walk and struck out one.
Kaitlyn Carr (Valparaiso, Ind.) Manchester University | Pitcher | First-Year - Carr continues to have a strong rookie season in the pitcher's circle for Manchester. Carr pitched in three of Manchester's six games last week - all of them wins. She tossed a complete game in a 4-1 win over Anderson on Tuesday in which she allowed just one run on seven hits. Carr picked up her first collegiate save in an 11-9 win over Bluffton on Friday and rounded out her outstanding week by throwing 4 2/3 innings of relief against a solid Hope College squad. Against Hope, Carr allowed just one run on four hits as the Spartans were able to rally for a 7-6 win in eight innings.
Rachel Gabbard (Fort Thomas, Ky.) Mount St. Joseph University | First Base | Junior - Gabbard was powerful at the plate for the Lions hitting in the clean-up spot. Gabbard finished the week 6-8 from the plate adding nine RBI, four walks, and one run scored while leading the Lions to a perfect 4-0 record this week.
Kamryn McCool (Brookville, Ind.) Mount St. Joseph University | Pitcher | Senior - McCool continued her historic season with another dominant week in the circle. McCool pitched 10 innings allowing just two hits and zero runs in two starts. McCool also added 11 strikeouts while walking just three batters.
Stella Wulker (Cincinnati, Ohio) Transylvania University | Outfield | Sophomore - Wulker finished Saturday's doubleheader at Defiance going 6-9 at the plate with three doubles, three RBI, two runs scored and a batting average of .667.
Carlee Jeter (Lexington, Ky.) Transylvania University | Pitcher | Sophomore - In Saturday's doubleheader at Defiance Jeter went the distance in game one, pitching 7.0 innings with nine strikeouts, and allowing just five hits and two walks, as well as two runs that were unearned, to take the win. She returned in game two to pitch 3.1 more innings, tacking on two more strikeouts, and earning the save in the game. Overall, she pitched 10.1 innings, allowing three earned runs, with 11 strikeouts.
