Cassie Hamilton named Transylvania Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Media
The Transylvania Athletic Department welcomes Cassie Hamilton as the new Assistant Athletic Director for Communications and Media.
Hamilton, a Lexington local, steps in after spending the past year as Director of Operations for the Transylvania women's lacrosse team. A graduate of Transylvania with an outstanding background as a student-athlete on the softball team, she offers a wide array of pertinent experience, already having deep roots within the institution.
In serving as the Director of Operations during the 2021-22 season, the women's lacrosse team reached new heights including their first NCAA Tournament win. Hamilton's experience as a Transy student-athlete made her contributions to the program substantial. She oversaw daily office operations, along with preparing and communicating logistics, completing compliance documents, finding the best ways to assist the team and Coach Bragg through their historic season.
Prior to her return at Transylvania, Hamilton taught English and Writing Mechanics for five years in Gallatin and Owen County school districts. She served as an Athletic Director in the Owen County school district for three years, managing 14 sport teams and its 175+ student-athletes, she executed game day operations and oversaw team organizational functions. Hamilton also spent two years as the Owen County Parks & Recreation Director. In both roles, she was able to promote and help facilitate Special Olympics tournaments.
While at Transylvania, Hamilton worked closely in the university's Athletic Department as a Work-Study Assistant for all four years, where she gathered and organized statistics, and coordinated a system that helped streamline contact information for potential students. She served as the Sports Editor of The Rambler in the spring 2014 semester, editing and contributing to feature stories for weekly publication, and designing layouts for the week's stories and photos.
Graduating with honors from Transylvania in 2015 with a Bachelor of Arts in Writing, Rhetoric, & Communication, and furthering her education with a Master of Arts in Teaching Secondary English from the University of the Cumberlands, Hamilton is currently pursuing a Doctor of Education in Learning & Leadership in Organizations from Vanderbilt University.
