HCAC Conducts Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Antiracism Training at the Muhammad Ali Center
The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) held a Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Antiracism training and education forum at the Muhammad Ali Center on Thursday with various stakeholders throughout the conference in attendance.
“The NCAA Diversity and Inclusion Designee meeting held at the Muhammad Ali Center in Louisville, Ky. was a true testament to the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and member institutions' commitment to a diverse and inclusive environment for student-athletes,” reflected Rayshawn Eastman, Ph.D., Chief Diversity and Inclusion Officer and Title IX Coordinator from Mount St. Joseph University and a meeting attendee. “The college and university representatives engaged in a powerful learning experience, reinforcing the campus leaders' dedication to an enhanced experience for student-athletes on-and-off the fields and courts of competition. Gathering in the center dedicated to the great Muhammad Ali made for a symbolic and transformational meeting, which will positively impact the Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference and member institutions.”
The group of 20 plus individuals came together to participate in the programming offered by the Ali Center. The programming highlighted the efforts of Muhammad Ali, spanning from his career in sports to his impact in the fight against racism and beyond. The impact that Ali made has served as a foundation for change today.
Following the Ali Center training, the attendees also held an open forum for the group to address necessary improvements within the league and how the conference can move forward in furthering its Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Antiracism efforts. The program was made possible by a grant funded by the NCAA.
