HCAC 2022-23 Men’s and Women’s Swimming and Diving Notebook, Week 1

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) swimming and diving teams competed in week one of the 2022-23 season.

Athletes of the Week:

Men’s Swimming Athlete of the Week:

Christian Cseri (Fort Wayne, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | First-Year – Cseri won two individual and one relay events to help Rose-Hulman earn a 131-78 win over DePauw on Thursday. Cseri won the 50-freestyle (22.40) and 100-freestyle (49.58) and was the anchor for the winning 200-medley relay (1:37.60) as the Fightin' Engineers picked up a road victory.

Men’s Diving Athlete of the Week:

John Dinkel (Alexandria, Va.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Sophomore – Dinkel won both the one-meter (216.75) and three-meter (217.30) diving events to help Rose-Hulman top DePauw 131-78 on Thursday.

Women’s Swimming Athlete of the Week:

Ilys Anderson (Hebron, Ky.) Hanover College | Senior - Anderson led the Panthers in a dual meet with Manchester and Bluffton as she won the 50 yard free in a time of 26.73 before winning the 100 yard free in a time of 57.76.

Women’s Diving Athlete of the Week:

Audrey Hankins (Lynn Haven, Fla.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Sophomore – Hankins won the 1-meter (180.90) and 3-meter (184.95) diving events to lead Rose-Hulman's efforts in a 185-62 loss at DePauw in the season opener on Thursday.

Notable Performances:

Men’s

Chet Paulsen (Bloomington, Ind.) Hanover College | First-Year - Paulsen led the Panthers as part of a dual meet with Bluffton and Manchester. The first-year won the 200 yard free in a time of 1:56.20 before taking the top spot in the 500 yard free in a time of 5:28.38.

Parker York (Roann, Ind.) Manchester University | Sophomore – Yorl placed First in 50 free (23.22), second in 100 fly (57.41), and first in 200 medley relay (24.52 split) against Bluffton and Hanover. Manchester defeated Bluffton 90-10 and Hanover 66-36 starting the season 2-0.

Takota Stone (Mishawaka, Ind.) Manchester University | Sophomore – Stone placed first in the 328.65 1 meter diving in a tri-meet against Bluffton and Hanover.

Women’s

Eamin Lynch (South Bend, Ind.) Manchester University | Sophomore – Lynch placed second in the 50 free (27.81), first in the 100 back (1:06.64), and first in the 200 medley relay (30.89 split). Manchester defeated Bluffton 90-10 and Hanover 66-36 starting the season 2-0.
