HCAC 2022 Cross Country Notebook, Week 5

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) cross country teams competed in week five of the 2022 season.

Men’s Athlete of the Week:

Enrique Salazar (Plymouth, Ind.) Manchester University | Senior – Salazar won the Inter regional Rumble hosted by Oberlin College with a time of 24:58.0.

Women’s Athlete of the Week:

Kaycee Moore Transylvania University | First-Year - At the Jenna Strong Invitational first-year Kaycee Moore ran her 5k in 19:56.8 placing 10th in the race.

Notable Performances:

Men’s

  • Ethan Jones (Newburgh, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Senior – Jones led Rose-Hulman with a 41st place finish at the Wilmington Invitational with an 8K time of 27:02, helping the Fightin' Engineers place fifth among NCAA Division III teams at the event.
  • Drew Meader (London, Ky.) Transylvania University | Junior - Meader finished his 8k in 26:09.4 posting a school record for Transy in the Jenna Strong Invitational.
Women’s

  • Hannah Brubaker (Goshen, Ind.) Manchester University | Senior – Brubaker was the top HCAC performer at the Oberlin Inter Regional Rumble by over a minute, finishing 57th and running 23:37 for the 6k.
  • Madison Lindfelt (Carmel, Ind.) Rose-Hulman Institute of Technology | Senior – Lindfelt  led Rose-Hulman's effort at Wilmington with a 5K time of 21:11 to place 42nd individually. The Fightin' Engineers finished fifth among NCAA Division III teams at the event.
