HCAC 2022-23 Women’s Basketball Notebook, Week 7

The Heartland Collegiate Athletic Conference (HCAC) women’s basketball teams competed in week seven of the 2022-23 season.

Athlete of the Week:

Kennedi Stacy (Salyersville, Ky.) Transylvania University | Guard | Senior - In the Transylvania Holiday Classic, Transy faced Wisconsin Lutheran and Berea. Against WLC, Stacy had 18 points, 10 rebounds, four steals, and three assists. Against Berea she scored 18 points, picked up four steals, three rebounds, and two assists in 26 minutes. Stacy was named the MVP for the Classic.

 

Notable Performances:

•    Lexi Dellinger (Berne, Ind.) Anderson University | Guard | Graduate Student - Anderson secured a 69-56 road win against Spalding. Dellinger provided 12 points, 10 rebounds and four assists.

•    Morgan Smith (Arlington, Ohio) Bluffton University | Forward | Senior - Smith hit 12-of-24 from the field for a team-high 15.0 PPG as Bluffton went 2-0 with her on the court. She also averaged 10.5 RPG with seven offensive boards for the week. Smith dished out 2.0 APG.

•    Grace Bezold (Covington, Ky.) Hanover College | Guard | Sophomore - Bezold led the Panthers as part of their trip to Florida tying a game-high 21 points in the teams narrow loss to No. 9 ranked Babson. She also added six boards and dished out three assists. In the team's contest with Loras, she added six points and six rebounds.

•    Maddison Smith (Kewanna, Ind.) Manchester University | Forward | Senior - Smith led the Spartans with 10 points, seven rebounds, and three steals during Manchester's game against Baldwin Wallace in the opening round of the BW Invitational. Smith also went a perfect 4-4 from the free throw line. During the Spartans' win against RIT in the consolation game of the invitational, Smith finished the day with 12 points and a team-high seven rebounds. Smith was named to the 2022 BW Invitational All-Tournament team and leads Manchester in average points per game with 10.1 and rebounds per game with 5.5.
