RECAP | Beavers Spoil Grizzlies' Senior Day Saturday

The Franklin women's basketball team continued a three-game homestand on Saturday (Feb. 11), taking on the Bluffton Beavers.

Before the game, the Grizzlies (8-15, 7-10 HCAC) said thank you to the team's lone senior in Libby Baker. After keeping it close in the first half, shooting woes in the second half allowed the Beavers (14-8, 9-7 HCAC) to pull away for a 67-44 win.

How it Happened

An early Grizzly lead was wiped away by a 9-0 Beaver run but six straight Franklin points got the hosts within a pair late in the first quarter. Down 15-11 after one quarter, the Grizzlies turned in their best offensive period of the day in the second where they went 8-for-18 from the field. But the Beavers turned in a quality shooting performance in the quarter as well, and Bluffton took a 33-28 lead into the locker room.

The shooting woes started early in the second half, with Franklin going 7:31 into the third without a field goal. The Grizzlies recorded just six buckets total in the second half of play, allowing Bluffton to pull away.
